Buyer Beware

Yes believe it or not there are traps when buying anything on the net, particularly Car Audio gear. Some of the most common traps are:

  1. COPIES or CLONES :Copies or clones are units that resemble the genuine product in every way (on the outside) they are extremely difficult to pick even for an experienced installer. Sometimes "genuine" parts are used on the outside and cheap replacements where the customer cannot see. Mostly these units will only last a few hours, particularly speakers and subs.
  2. REFURBISHED UNITS : Units that have been obtained from various sources including second hand, stolen etc that have been cleaned up for resale.
  3. REPACKED/WARRANTY REPAIR ; Units that have been repaired under warranty and repacked into their original packaging
  4. Overseas Product: Products that are designed to work ONLY in other countries. Some units will have subtle differences built in to a unit that will render it useless in Australia. Navigation products are the most common  in this category but some DVD units may be restricted to a particular region.
These are just some examples of  the way products are misrepresented on the Internet . You should always contact the seller if you are suspicious and ask lots questions about the product. Always buy from a known reputable company that has a physical address, ABN (if Australian) and preferably a contact land line phone number.

AND MOST OF ALL ask yourself.

IS IT TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ?
